Hadley Austin is a writer and documentary filmmaker whose work is rooted in historical research, social justice, and the natural world. For years, she has worked with DinĂ© communities to protect the environment in Arizona and New Mexico. She campaigned for 15 years against snowmaking on Mount Humphreys, one of the four mountains the Navajo consider sacred. This issue eventually made its way to the Supreme Court. She has a master’s in Creative Writing and a bachelor’s in Political Science with an emphasis in Native American Water Rights and Environmental Policy.
In 2018 Austin co-founded Formidable Entities, a production house focusing on creating documentary, performance, and media art works exploring ecology and social justice. The company also collaborates with world renowned theater and performance artists to generate theatrical documentation and installation pieces. As a professionally trained trapeze artist herself, she has created and directed the documentation of site-specific performances on mineral extraction sites.”
