Victoria Lean

Filmmaker Vicki Lean crafts stories that defy convention and explore the complex relationship between science and society. With a two-decade commitment to engaging storytelling on pressing issues, her works have premiered at TIFF and Hot Docs and earned multiple Canadian Screen Awards. She was the writer, producer and director of We’re All Gonna Die (Even Jay Baruchel)” (S1, Hot Docs 2022, BELL/CRAVE), “The Climate Baby Dilemma” (CBC 2022) and After the Last River (CBC 2016). A talented comedy producer, Vicki’s credits include Chandler Levack’s “I Like Movies” (Netflix, TIFF Top 10 2022) and two seasons of “Nirvanna the Band the Show” (VICE), directed by Matt Johnson. Bridging comedy and documentary, Vicki’s artistry and forward-thinking approach earned her the Vanguard Award from the Documentary Organization of Canada. She was a participant in the 2023-24 Hot Docs-Netflix Incubator and holds an MFA in Film Production and an MBA in Arts and Media Management from York University.
