Appalachian Spring

Appalachian Spring

Directed by Evan Mascagni

Appalachian Spring follows a group of Kentuckians leading up to the opening of a 60-acre high-tech greenhouse in the heart of Appalachia. As part of their hiring efforts, the company AppHarvest is training former opioid addicts for jobs in the greenhouse that will grow fresh produce for the region. Watch as AppHarvest tries to build excitement for the future of the Appalachia, addressing skeptics by setting up education programs in local high schools and colleges to get young people ready for the future of farming.
