Inventing Tomorrow

Inventing Tomorrow

Directed by Laura Nix
Produced by Diane Becker, Melanie Miller, and Laura Nix

INVENTING TOMORROW follows six young scientists from Indonesia, Hawaii, India and Mexico as they tackle some of the most complex environmental issues facing humanity today – right in their own backyards. Each student is preparing original scientific research that he or she will defend at ISEF, the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. Framed against the backdrop of the severe environmental threats we now face, INVENTING TOMORROW immerses the audience in a global view of the planetary crisis, through the eyes of the generation that will be affected by it most.

Since receiving the 2016 Redford Center Grant development award, INVENTING TOMORROW has been screened hundreds of times around the world. The film was an official selection of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, Earthx Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Hot Docs, CPH:DOX, Environmental Youth Forum, and Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. INVENTING TOMORROW also won the prestigious Grand Jury Prize of the 2018 Seattle International Film Festival.

The film's impact campaign will engage and inspire young people, educators and thought leaders in as many US communities as possible. INVENTING TOMORROW's ambitious national impact campaign will use the film as a tool to connect people across the political spectrum in support of youth environmental stewardship, active learning and science discovery, and to help create pathways for young people to STEM jobs.
