Little Warriors
Indiana is not known for reckoning with the scientific reality of climate change. Quite the opposite, in fact. The state does not have a climate action plan, nor does any individual city. In early 2016, a group of young people in central Indiana, from ages 9-20, began the process of crafting a Climate Resilience and Recovery Resolution. With the help of elected and appointed officials, this intergenerational initiative resulted in Indianapolis becoming the largest city in the country to pass a youth-led resolution addressing climate concerns, and promising carbon neutrality and the creation of a Climate Action Plan for the city.
