Untitled Stewart Brand Documentary

Untitled Stewart Brand Documentary

Filmmakers: Directors David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg, and Producer Kate McLean

Since the 1960s, Stewart Brand has been a leader of the counterculture, modern environmentalism, and cyberculture. Now, distraught by the ecological ruin he says is caused by our culture’s pathologically short attention span, Stewart hopes to reengineer humanity’s relationship to time and nature: he is building a colossal clock to keep time for 10,000 years—a monument to long-term thinking. He is also leading a group of conservationists who are using biotechnology to resurrect extinct species. Accused by his former allies in the environmental movement of being vain and misguided, Stewart Brand is nonetheless determined to build a more sustainable future.
