Swaysən, an Indigenous land defender facing prison time in a racist legal system, turns to a ceremonial canoe journey to build support in his communities against cultural and environmental threat.
Swaysən’s life radically changed when his elders chose him to defend their Nation’s land from industrial threats. A known Indigenous land defender facing prison time at the hands of a racist legal system, Swaysən returns to a sacred time-immemorial tradition – the ceremonial canoe journey – to connect and build support in his communities against cultural and environmental threat. His epic journey, on the canoe and in court, shows just how far he’s willing to go to stand up for himself, his community, and all life around him.
