The Development Associate will be a key member of the development team, supporting the growth of The Redford Center during an expansion phase, helping to build a more diverse, activated, and invested community to galvanize environmental justice and regeneration. This position will support our Development Director in building and stewarding donor relationships, launching our Legacy Campaign, and developing a portfolio of institutional partners. This position will also manage the operations aspects of the development team, which including tracking and recording donor and gift records, drafting letters and communications, and maintaining internal data integrity. - Provide front-line development support, including communications with donors and prospects, processing of gifts and donations, managing grants calendar and assisting with grant writing and reporting.
- Assist the Development Director in identifying major gift prospects, help develop appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies, and execute individualized action plans.
- Ensure donor data is accurately entered into the database, reconcile the database to financial reports on a regular basis, and report on funds and gifts regularly.
- Support donor recognition, retention, and stewardship work and communications including retrieving reports and information from donor database and coordinating relevant external meetings.
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials, including direct mail campaigns, annual reports, and other fundraising collateral.
- Support fundraising campaigns and efforts, including the $25M Legacy Campaign and the planning and execution of organizational events, including donor, program, and community events.
- Research to help prepare for meetings with individuals, foundations, and government and institutional funders and prospects.
- Support the development of and the transition to donor database.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in fundraising and development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally across a diverse group.
- Donor-centric mindset and the ability to exercise good judgment and handle VIP relationships and sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent communication skills: writing, speaking, and listening, with an emphasis on clear and analytical writing ability. Preference for grant-writing experience.
- Strong working knowledge of fundraising and project management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Mailchimp, Asana, etc.). Preference for experience with database development and management.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, juggle multiple projects simultaneously, take initiative and problem solve, and meet deadlines responsibly, all while demonstrating extreme organization, production of high-quality work, and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- A strong affinity with our mission of galvanizing environmental justice and regeneration using storytelling and film.
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time position located at The Redford Center’s headquarters in The Presidio in San Francisco, California (with options to work from home during the pandemic). The salary range will be $57,000-73,000, commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience. We offer a flexible schedule and an excellent benefits package, including generous paid time off, 100% coverage of employees’ health, dental and vision insurance, commuting expense reimbursement, and participation in a 403b retirement plan.
