A Year of Impact with Redford Center Grants
Across five cycles of grantmaking, we’ve received more than 1,300 applications for support from at least 67 countries; nearly 40% of those came in 2024 alone. The stories and storytellers we’re supporting are as diverse and nuanced as the environmental challenges our planet is facing. Dive deeper into the stories and solutions these filmmakers are leading.

The Redford Center’s Documentary Achievements of 2024
Through our unwavering commitment to supporting powerful storytelling, 2024 proved to be a banner year for our mission to inspire change and foster environmental and social justice through film. In 2024, we were proud to support a diverse slate of feature-length and short documentary films that address critical issues, highlight resilient communities, and amplify voices advocating for a healthier planet. Several of these projects reached completion this year, a testament to the dedication of the filmmakers and the strength of the partnerships we’ve cultivated.

‘Planetwalker,’ Shortlisted for Oscar
Redford Center supported film, Planetwalker, co-directed by Nadia and Dominic Gill has been shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards in the documentary short film category. The film follows the life and impact of Dr. John Francis, a visionary environmentalist, educator, and storyteller whose radical act of protest led him to give up motorized transport and rely solely on his own two feet. Months after that, he took a vow of silence, convinced that listening, rather than adding fuel to any fire, was the way ahead.

‘Let Them Be Naked,’ Inspires Bill Presented to UK Parliament
The Redford Center supported film, Let Them Be Naked, recently inspired Baroness Natalie Bennett to usher in the introduction of the first bill in any government body to call on the UK Parliament to regulate and ban toxic chemicals for safe school and work uniforms. The film, directed by Jeff Garner, reimagines the development and production of everyday garments to inspire a new era of conscious and responsible fashion that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of people and the planet.
